Two-door Boulle marquetry cabinet
€3,490
Rare pair of contre-partie corner cabinets from the house of Diehl in Paris.
Stamped “Diehl 1” and “Diehl 2” beneath the marble.
It is a perfect contre-partie, with tortoiseshell and brass on one side and, on the other, brass and tortoiseshell in negative.
It is rare to find a perfect pair such as this.
Rich gilt bronze ornamentation with chutes decorated with nymphs, lower chutes, spandrels, lozenge-shaped rosettes at the top; the first bears a bronze with the effigy of Ceres on the door, the second with the effigy of Bacchus.
Black Aleppo marble top, interior with two mahogany shelves.
They are relatively tall for corner cabinets.
