Frequently asked questions

Reservation, payment, delivery, authenticity, restoration: the answers to the questions you ask us most often.

Reservation & payment

How do I reserve a piece of furniture?

Any piece may be reserved by email or by telephone. Following a verbal reservation, the gallery sends you an order form (together with the terms and conditions of sale), to be returned signed within 7 days, accompanied by a deposit of at least 30% of the price. The reservation withdraws the piece from sale during this period; if the deposit is not received, it is returned to sale.

Which payment methods do you accept?

Payment is made by cheque or by bank transfer. All prices are quoted in euros, inclusive of all taxes. Payment in instalments is possible, up to a maximum of 3 instalments, subject to acceptance by the gallery.

When must the piece be paid for?

Every purchase is paid for in full before delivery. If delivery is deferred and the piece is kept in storage, full payment is due no later than 2 months after the reservation. The deposit paid on reservation is deducted from the final price.

Can I return a piece after purchase?

A reservation or purchase is a firm commitment by the buyer, and withdrawal outside the statutory period entails forfeiture of the deposit. On receipt, you have 7 days to report in writing any defect or non-conformity: the gallery will then repair, replace or refund the piece. Full details are set out in our terms and conditions of sale.

Can you store a piece after purchase?

Yes, as a courtesy the gallery can store your piece free of charge. Beyond 2 months, storage may be charged at €5 per day, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Delivery & shipping

How is furniture delivered within France?

Our two carriers, specialists in antiques and works of art, travel throughout France every month to deliver our furniture, carefully packed and covered by all the necessary insurance. We deliver at a flat rate anywhere in France, within 7 to 25 days of payment depending on their rounds (consolidated rates). Express delivery (within 5 days at most) is possible on prior request.

Do you deliver internationally?

Yes: we deliver at a flat rate to Switzerland, Belgium, Germany and Italy. Small objects (boxes, caskets, liqueur cellarettes) are shipped worldwide by registered, insured and secure Colissimo. For any other destination or special request, please consult us beforehand. See the Shipping page.

What should I do if the piece arrives damaged?

Inspect the goods as soon as they are received. If any damage is found, note it on the consignment note, have it confirmed by the carrier and notify the gallery without delay. Transport insurance costs are included in the delivery charge.

Authenticity & restoration

Is your furniture authentic?

The gallery specialises in period Napoleon III Boulle furniture: each piece is rigorously selected and precisely described (period, maker’s stamp where present, dimensions, restorations). This description constitutes the contractual characterisation of the piece sold. Our articles also help you spot a copy.

Who restores your furniture?

Our cabinetmaking workshops work every week on the restoration of our furniture. Our cabinetmakers, trained at the École Boulle and through the French compagnonnage, restore according to the rules of the art, combining traditional techniques with modern know-how, together with the finest French houses (bronze worker, leather worker, marble workshop). Discover the workshop and some examples of restorations.

Can a piece still under restoration be reserved?

Yes. Pieces undergoing restoration may be reserved before the work is completed. Any completion date given is strictly indicative: it depends on the workshop’s schedule and on our suppliers (bronze worker, leather worker, founder, marble workshop…).
