Gilt bronze column clock, Directoire / Empire circa 1800

Column clock in mercury-gilt bronze, with Empire-style & draped decoration. The dial has been restored, bronze hands, key and pendulum available. Late 18th century movement with an escapement designed for a thread-suspension pendulum, but the mounting was modified in the 19th century and the pendulum now rests on a strip-spring suspension: the movement works very well and strikes the hours & half-hours.
Note one flower missing from the cornice on the right and some wear to the gilding; this clock is 220 years old
