Napoleon III Boulle ceremonial cabinet, BEFORT Jeune

Ceremonial cabinet opening with 2 doors, ebonized wood with Boulle style marquetry in brass fillets and full-door marquetry of brass on brown tortoiseshell. The bronze ornamentation is splendid, with Ceres & Dionysos facing each other on the doors, models often used on pieces by the Emperor’s cabinetmaker Mathieu BEFORT, known as “jeune”, as well as the distinctive spandrels and the fragmented outline of the lingotière mouldings on the base.
This being a ceremonial cabinet, there is no marble but an ebonized wood top with brass fillets, mahogany-veneered interior with 2 shelves. Working lock and key available
